A little about me...

Doug Good at Logan Falls, Forest County
Hi! My name is Doug Good. My family and I live in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania (roughly eight miles west of Harrisburg). I enjoy the outdoors, and my hobbies reflect that. They include hiking, photography, and (rarely) caving, but my favorite hobby of all is geocaching. I started geocaching in September 2004 and have been an active participant ever since.
Geocaching combines hiking, exploring, navigational technology and the Internet into one fun hobby. It could be accurately described as "a high-tech Easter egg hunt for adults" (although children are quite welcome to play too). Geocaches are often hidden in unique places or in locations that are special for some reason. Some of my favorite caches are hidden near waterfalls, scenic overlooks, historical ruins, or places that require miles of hiking to get to.
In order to find potential locations to hide my own geocaches, I began doing research both online and in local libraries. As I find places of interest I add them to a database. Whenever my travels take me near one of these special places I make it a point to visit it, mark a waypoint on my GPS, jot down some notes about the area, and snap some pictures. My eventual goal is to investigate all the spots in my database to ensure that my information is accurate and to see the best of what Pennsylvania has to offer.
Early in 2008 I decided to publish my database of special Pennsylvania locations online so PAWaypoints.com was born. Hopefully by sharing the information and locations I've collected, others will benefit and share theirs with me. Sharing knowledge will build the database, increase the accuracy of the information and allow all of us to enjoy the special locations Pennsylvania has to offer.
I hope you find the site useful and, if you can, please consider contributing some information of your own. Whether you're planning a hiking trip in the mountains, a photography shoot, a road trip to explore the countryside, or just some place cool to hide a geocache, I think you'll find a few waypoints on this site worthy of a visit.
Enjoy, and God bless.
-Doug
